Question 1

What are the prerequisites for this course?

Accepted Answer

The course is open to anyone with an interest in movement. A background in yoga, personal training, physiotherapy, or similar practices can be helpful, but it is not required.

Question 2

How big are the groups?

Accepted Answer

The groups are intentionally small so the learning environment can stay personal and supportive. This keeps the learning environment personal and supportive, with enough space for questions, individual feedback, hands-on practice, and real connection with the teachers and other students. Teacher training comes alive through practice, personal feedback, and the confidence built in a smaller group.

Question 3

What certification will I receive?

Accepted Answer

Upon successful completion, you will receive the Rooted Movement 200-Hour Mat & Reformer Pilates Teacher Certification. Certification is awarded after completing the required online study materials, full in-person training, assessment requirements, and post-course logbook hours. Your graduate record is supported by the Rooted Movement Certification Portal, so your training can be presented clearly to studios and employers.

Question 4

Is the Rooted Movement certification accredited?

Accepted Answer

Rooted Movement awards its own independent 200-hour Mat & Reformer certification. Your training is led by Candice Masse, studio owner and teacher mentor. You graduate with full proof of your hours, curriculum and assessment, plus a certificate number studios can check online.

Question 5

Should I choose Bali or Portugal?

Accepted Answer

Both lead to the same 200-hour Mat & Reformer certification, with the same online study and logbook. Bali: a 10-day intensive. Training only, so you choose your own stay nearby. Portugal: a 9-day retreat in Ericeira, with your room and meals included. See each training page for current dates and prices, or book a discovery call and we’ll help you decide.

Question 6

Can I use this certification to apply for Pilates teaching jobs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can use the Rooted Movement certification when applying for Pilates teaching roles internationally. Rooted Movement is an independent 200-hour Mat & Reformer Pilates Teacher Certification, supported by a professional Certification Portal and graduate documentation pack. Studios can clearly see your training hours, curriculum, assessments, logbook completion, trainer details, and where you trained. Pilates does not operate under one single global licensing body, so studios usually review the quality and transparency of each teacher’s training. Rooted is built to make that easy to verify. In countries or studios with additional local requirements, graduates can use their Rooted documentation as a clear foundation for those checks.

Question 7

How does the exam work?

Accepted Answer

Assessment takes place during the in-person training and afterwards through your logbook assignments. During the in-person training, you will learn four signature Rooted Movement classes: two Mat Pilates classes and two Reformer classes. You will teach part of a sequence together with your group, taking turns teaching and participating in each other’s classes. After the training, you will create two individual class sequences of your own: one 45-minute Mat Pilates class and one 45-minute Reformer class. For each, you will submit a written class plan and a full teaching video showing the same sequence. You can teach a student or teach as though a student is present; a simple recording with clear sound is enough. The written assignments and recorded teaching count towards your 80-hour logbook. Your full certificate is awarded once all study, assessment and logbook requirements have been successfully completed.

Question 8

What is the Rooted Movement Certification Portal?

Accepted Answer

The Rooted Movement Certification Portal is your private student area for the training. Inside, you’ll be able to access course materials, track your certification progress, submit your 80-hour post-course logbook, and download your certification documents once all requirements are complete. Once certified, you’ll also receive a certificate number and verification link. This is designed to support you when applying for Pilates teaching opportunities, because studios and employers can clearly see what your certification includes.

Question 9

How exactly does the 80-hour logbook work?

Accepted Answer

The 80-hour logbook helps you put your learning into practice after the in-person training. It is not 80 hours of fully supervised training. The supervised teaching labs, direct practice and feedback happen mainly during the in-person training. Afterwards, you record relevant practice through your Rooted Movement App. This includes self-practice, observing classes or teachers, practice teaching, assisting or shadowing, class planning, sequencing and reflection. As part of this work, you will create your own 45-minute Mat Pilates sequence and 45-minute Reformer sequence, then submit a written plan and matching full teaching video for each. You can complete your logbook from your home country, at a local studio, online or independently. The app makes it easy to add entries from your phone and keep track of your progress in one place.

Question 10

How are the 200 hours divided?

Accepted Answer

The 200-hour certification combines online study, in-person training and post-training practice. Online study: 50 hours. Mat Foundation and repertoire, the origins of Pilates, Anatomy Foundations and Pilates business. The timing is flexible, but we recommend completing the Mat Foundation, Origin of Pilates & Anatomy Foundations before the in-person training and the business module after. In-person training: 70 hours. Hands-on Mat and Reformer training, anatomy, teaching methodology, cueing, sequencing, class structure and practice teaching with feedback. The daily schedule and included activities vary by training. Post-training logbook: 80 hours. Observation, self-practice, practice teaching, class planning, reflection and your individual Mat & Reformer sequence assignments.

Question 11

When should I complete the online portion of the training?

Accepted Answer

It is flexible. You do not need to complete the online portion before the in-person training, and you can work through it at your own pace. If you have time beforehand, we recommend starting with the Mat foundations, origins of Pilates and Anatomy Foundation. These can help you feel more familiar with the movements and terminology when we meet. The online lessons and supporting materials are there for you to study and practise with before and after the training. We recommend taking the business module afterwards, once you have your in-person experience to build on. All required online study must be completed before your final certification is issued.

Question 12

When do I get access to the online materials?

Accepted Answer

You get access to the online materials as soon as your first deposit payment or first installment is confirmed. You can start studying and practising with us straight away through your student portal. The Pilates business module is the one exception: it opens once you have completed the in-person training, so you can build on that experience.

Question 13

Will I learn how to teach and structure lessons?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely. Teaching and lesson structure are a big part of the training. You will learn cueing, sequencing, how to build classes, how to teach safely, and you will practice teaching with feedback during the in-person training.

Question 14

What does the training cost?

Accepted Answer

The price varies from training to training, depending on the location and what is included. Visit each training page for the full price, what is included and the available payment options. If you cancel your booking, payments are non-refundable but transferable to another training with a minimum of one month’s notice. Please see our Terms and Conditions for the full details.

Question 15

How does the cohort deposit work?

Accepted Answer

When a cohort accepts a deposit, the current amount is shown in the booking summary before you submit. The deposit is part of the full training price, not an additional fee. Your accepted summary records the remaining balance and deadline.

Question 16

Do you offer payment plans?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer payment plans. You can secure your place with an initial deposit and spread the remaining balance across monthly payments. The schedules available depend on your selected training and when you book. You will see the exact payment amounts and dates during booking, before making your first payment.

Question 17

Are there future opportunities after the training?

Accepted Answer

Your certification can become a foundation for studio classes, private clients, workshops, retreats, collaborations, or an offering of your own. You decide how teaching fits into the life and work you want to build. Certified graduates can stay connected through the Graduate Network and may explore the Partner pathway. There may also be opportunities to assist on future trainings, with Rooted graduates given priority when assistants are selected. Selected certified graduates may apply for the Founder Program, an exploratory pathway for bringing Rooted Movement trainings to their own city or community. All of these opportunities are optional, approval-based, and never guaranteed as part of certification.

Question 18

What is the Founder Program?

Accepted Answer

The Founder Program is a graduate-only pathway for selected Rooted Movement certified graduates who may want to bring Rooted trainings to their own city, country, or community. It is designed for graduates who feel deeply aligned with the teaching standard, brand, and community ethos, and who may be ready to help host or lead future trainings locally. This is an application-based conversation after certification. Participation, location, teaching role, brand use, support, commercial terms, and any earning potential are discussed individually and are never guaranteed by completing the training.

Question 19

What kind of support is offered after the training?

Accepted Answer

Rooted Movement continues to support students after the in-person training is complete. You will receive feedback and guidance while completing your post-course hours and logbook, so you are not left to figure everything out alone once the intensive ends. The Graduate Network and online business course can help you explore your next steps with more clarity, whether you want to teach in a studio, work independently, collaborate with others, or simply deepen your practice. Entrepreneurship is one possible path among many.

Question 20

Are food and accommodation included in the Bali training?

Accepted Answer

No. Food and accommodation are not included in the course fee. There are many accommodation options in and around Seseh to suit different budgets and preferences. We recommend staying close to Shape House, where the training takes place, and we are happy to share recommendations for places to stay in the area. You will also find plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby, with options to suit every budget and preference. We are happy to share some of our favourite local recommendations, but you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to places to eat in the neighbourhood. If you would like to stay on site, Villa Sky, our training villa, has two private rooms, each with an en-suite toilet and shower, for US$600 per room for your training stay. You can add a room when you book and it is added to your remaining balance. Rooms are first come, first served and go to the first bookings to pay their deposit.

Question 21

What happens after the Bali training?

Accepted Answer

After the Bali intensive, students receive a Course Completion Letter if the in-person training requirements are complete. The full Rooted Movement 200-Hour Mat & Reformer Pilates Teacher Certification is issued once the online study, assessment requirements, and post-training logbook hours are completed.

Question 22

Is 200 hours enough to teach Reformer Pilates?

Accepted Answer

For teaching Mat and Reformer classes, 200 hours gives you a solid foundation. Rooted's 200 hours are 50 hours of online study, 70 hours of hands-on Mat and Reformer training in Bali, and 80 logbook hours of practice teaching, observation and class planning afterwards. You learn four signature classes, practise teaching with feedback, and create your own Mat and Reformer sequences for assessment. Comprehensive programs that also cover equipment like the Cadillac and Chair often run longer; this training focuses on Mat and Reformer. Pilates has no single global licensing body, so studios look at your hours, your curriculum and how you teach. Your certificate number lets them check your training online.

Question 23

Are food and accommodation included in the Portugal training?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your Portugal training includes the training, accommodation and meals at Casa Paço D’Ilhas in Ericeira, so you can stay, eat and train with us in one place. You can explore the accommodation options and full package details on the Portugal training page.

Question 24

Is 200 hours enough to teach Reformer Pilates?

Accepted Answer

For teaching Mat and Reformer classes, 200 hours gives you a solid foundation. Rooted's 200 hours are 50 hours of online study, 70 hours of hands-on Mat and Reformer training in Portugal, and 80 logbook hours of practice teaching, observation and class planning afterwards. You learn four signature classes, practise teaching with feedback, and create your own Mat and Reformer sequences for assessment.
